Good Things Happening at the Library

    May 24, 2018

We have been working hard to find ways to make the Bennett Library as good as it can be.  One way we do this is by searching our for grant money to invest in our equipment and activities.  These grants are very competitive and take a fair amount of work even apply.   That is we we are so excited to announce we recently received a $1500 grant from the Community Foundation to be used for children's after school and summer programming.  In addition some the funds will be used for Launchpads that can be checked out just like our books.

The good news doesn't stop there.  We also received the Pilcrow Foundation grant and received over $1000 of new, hardcover books.  We have to give a good deal of credit to you, the community of Bennett.  For it was through your generous giving that helped us raised $300 that enabled us to receive the grant.   So thank you for helping us make the bennett Library such a great place.

    Spring into Reading

    March 8, 2018

After a long, cold, cloudy winter spring seems to have arrived, that is if March doesn't fight it too hard.  Spring represents new beginnings like  that fresh green creeping into the lawn or new buds forming on trees. There’s just something about spring that makes us feel rejuvenated and ready to make a new start.   One new start to kick off spring should be grabbing new book from your Bennett Public Library.

Some books says spring better then others   Such books are  E.M. Foster's "Room With A View" and Frances Hodgson Burnett's  classic "The Secret Garden".  We believe the reader will find these books fit right in as a perfect springtime read.   If those are not your style, few things says spring then baseballs' spring training.  Why not celebrate it with a re-read of "Boy of Summer" by Roger Kahn.  Spring is about the outdoors much like Bill Bryson's  "A Walk in the Woods".  This entertaining tale will take you...

    Something Blue!

    June 22, 2017

So many questions about where our door was last Monday!

Well here's the scoop: The old door was being transformed into a pretty blue door. Kevin Radson painted it. It is the same blue that is featured in our Bennett Library Logo. The door has also been reversed so that you now push in to enter and pull back when you exit. That way when you are entering the library on a windy day the door will not be so difficult to open. The door will come off again this coming Monday when the City Office and Library are closed to have the inside painted. The pretty brass handles and bars are still on the door and will be polished. I hope you like the color I think that it brightens up Bennett.
